At Georgian Cardiology Associates, rest assured, you are seeing a cardiologist certified by the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons Canada. As the regional hub for cardiac care, we serve a large catchment area encompassing Simcoe county and beyond. There are many advantages of seeing a specialist affiliated with the hospital. Our doctors can facilitate access to our hospital’s diagnostic modalities as well as all of us attend in the Cardiac Care Unit.
The Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre is the largest healthcare organization in Simcoe Muskoka with over 300 beds and serving a catchment area of almost 500,000 people. There are many specialist services provided in the hospital ensuring that the vast majority of care can be provided close to home. RVH will also be the newest provider of “Advanced Cardiac Care” through its construction of two state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization laboratories to care for our sickest patients with heart attacks.
Electronic Medical Records
Our clinic uses an advanced electronic medical record (EMR) shared by many of the primary care and specialist providers in Barrie. This allows us to have a relatively paperless environment and leave a smaller carbon footprint. Our goal is to rapidly provide consultation letters and testing to our referral base, using this system.
We utilize the software Health Report Manager (HRM) allowing us to receive instantaneous reports from participating institutions. We also have access to lab investigations through the Ontario Laboratories Information System (OLIS), minimizing time to testing.
Cutting Edge Diagnosis
Our clinic uses brand new cardiac diagnostic systems from top manufacturers to ensure our patients are cared for by the optimal tools for rapid and accurate assessment. We use a paperless ECG system designed for seamless turnaround as well as a popular ambulatory arrhythmia monitoring system (Holter monitors).
Echocardiography is a cornerstone of our clinic and we are proud to use top-notch systems from GE on a fully functional advanced reading platform that is found in only a few labs in Ontario. We also offer contrast echocardiography to improve imaging and accuracy.
